Porcelain Mosaic Tile | Dense Body, Floors and Wet Areas

Porcelain mosaic tile is made from a dense clay body fired at high temperature. The low porosity that results is why porcelain — rather than ceramic — is specified for floors, swimming pools, exterior surfaces and any installation exposed to frost or heavy traffic.

We supply porcelain mosaic on a sourcing basis, and confirm absorption, slip and frost data against the project requirement before order acceptance.

When porcelain is the right choice

  • Floors and heavy traffic. A dense body resists abrasion better than glazed ceramic.
  • Exterior and frost exposure. Low absorption reduces freeze–thaw damage.
  • Commercial wet areas. Pool surrounds, shower floors and commercial kitchens.
  • Chemical exposure. More resistant to cleaning chemicals than a soft glazed surface.

What to specify

Property Why it matters
Water absorption Determines frost resistance and suitability for permanently wet areas
DCOF / slip resistance Required for floors in wet or public areas
PEI abrasion rating Indicates suitability for floor traffic
Breaking strength Relevant for floors and raised access applications
Chemical resistance Relevant for pools treated with chlorine or salt systems

Test values are issued per batch. We do not quote generic industry averages as if they were the values of your shipment — request the batch report.

Applications we supply for

See swimming pool mosaic for waterline and pool shell specification, and commercial mosaic tile for high-traffic public spaces.

Quality, testing and compliance

Production is supported by third-party testing. Certificates currently on file cover SGS material testing, RoHS compliance, ISO 9001 quality management and Intertek inspection. Test reports are issued per production batch.

Material data sheets — including water absorption, dimensional tolerance, DCOF, PEI rating and frost resistance where applicable — are supplied with each quotation so specifiers can verify performance against project requirements rather than rely on generic claims.
